Point Family Care. Derrick holds a Masters degree in Education

Counseling, is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern, and

is a Certified Teacher. Derrick has 10 years experience working

with troubled youth as a Professional Therapeutic Foster Parent,

Educator, Coach, Tracker, Life Coach and Counselor. During

the past 6 years Derrick has served at-risk youth as the Executive

Administrator of ABLE Inc., C.E.O. of Positive Impact of Southern

Utah and Founder of Turning Point Family Care. Derrick has

an unconditional positive regard for all youth and their families.

His vision is to serve with integrity and always provide the

most appropriate and least restrictive individualized treatment

for youth in a cost effective delivery system. Derrick’s professional

responsibilities include: Admissions, Program Development,

Quality Assurance, Oversight of Educational Programs and Individual

Group Therapy.

Professor for Utah State University(USU)-Uintah Basin. He

received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from USU, his

Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy(MFT) from the

University of Wisconsin-Stout, and his Doctorate Degree in

MFT from Brigham Young University. He is a licensed Marriage

and Family Therapist, Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor

for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy,

and a Certified Family Life Educator for the National Council

on Family Relations. Dr. Law has published in journal articles

and book chapters on topics such as parenting, family therapy,

and health care utilization. Dr. Law has provided over fourteen

thousand hours of individual, family, and marital therapy

in agencies and private practice.

care staff receives 90 hrs of mandatory pre-training in the

following areas: Behavior Management, Professional Code of

Conduct, First Aid/CPR, Positive Peer Culture, Life Space

Crisis Intervention, Rebuilding Children’s Lives, and Program

Policies and Procedures. Direct Care staff, also complete

an additional 50 hours annually of ongoing training. These

direct care staff work as positive role models and life coaches

as they maintain a 1-4 student to staff ratio. Our Motto is
